Transforming Healthcare Delivery

From Thursday 11th September, 2008 to Thursday 11th September, 2008
Location: Imperial College London
Website: www.iitlc.org

Rajiv Gandhi Centre, Imperial College, London, a Corporate Member of IITLC, provides a forum for lively discussion on ways in which Indian and UK organisations can understand each other's strengths, needs and opportunities with a specific focus on innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Indian healthcare sector is the third largest growing sector in India and is estimated to be worth US$ 40 billion by 2012.  To cater to anticipated demand, it is estimated that India needs US$ 50 billion annually for the next 20 years. In addition, India needs to add 2 million beds to the existing 1.1 million, by 2027.

To exchange views on healthcare delivery systems and share insights to new models, the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Imperial College is organizing the second talk in the ‘Conversations with India’ series on Thursday, 11 September 2008 at the Imperial College Campus London.  The theme is ‘Transforming Healthcare Delivery’

To share their insights and perspectives, we have an eminent panel comprising Mr B Ramalinga Raju, Founder and Chairman, Satyam Computer Services Ltd and Professor Stephen Smith, Principal of the Faculty of Medicine and Chief Executive of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Mr B Ramalinga Raju is a pioneer of the information technology industry in India, a global business leader, a thinker.  Satyam works in over 20 industries including healthcare where Satyam’s Healthcare Practice is committed to transforming the efficiency of healthcare delivery. They have also sponsored and are running two innovative programmes aimed at creating a robust health service network in India.

Professor Stephen Smith is Principal of the Faculty of Medicine and Chief Executive of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and has led on the creation of the UK’s first Academic Health Science Centre. He has also been at the forefront of the development of the UK’s first Global Medical Excellence Cluster for London and South East England.

The session will be moderated by Sir Mark Tully, Author and former Chief of Bureau, BBC, New Delhi.
